UCP and the Shopify Catalog as Agent Runtime¶
Parakhin's framing: the shopify product catalog is being rebuilt as runtime infrastructure for agents. UCP (referenced but not fully spelled out in the interview) + a new catalog release exposes:
- Product search with structured queries
- Lookups by specific ID
- Bulk operations optimized for agent traffic (not human UI)
- Identity linking across merchant + buyer sides
Pairs directly with coding-agent-as-foundation and install-base-moat: Shopify's catalog size + identity graph becomes the API surface agents operate against, making the platform's install base a functional moat.
