Tangent¶
Shopify's auto-research system, built on tangle. Runs auto-research-loop continuously against a chosen metric — rewrites code, reconfigures pipelines, tries alternative models, and distills. Credited with real production wins: search throughput 800 → 4,200 QPS same quality same hardware; distillations feeding liquid-ai deployments into sidekick-pulse and ucp-catalog.
Parakhin positions it as a democratizing tool — non-researchers can now run full experiment loops, which used to be gatekept by ML research teams.
